Europe already has national login, signing and identity services. The EU Wallet Tracker follows the new wallet layer across 27 countries, while the Scorecard compares five pillars of published evidence. Read how it is scored; a strong national eID is not itself an EUDI wallet.

What could Ireland learn from how another country organised digital identity? Compare with Ireland, scan all 27 countries or read Ireland's evidence.

Country evidence checked 8 October 2026

A law, an app launch, a procurement and a wallet certificate answer different questions. The Scorecard ranks published evidence, not legal compliance. Coverage varies by country.

Compare with Ireland

The same five questions, with Ireland as your starting point. Evidence gaps do not mean a country has no service.

What Irish organisations can learn

Start with the roles, not the app name. Who proves the person's identity? Who issues the credential? Who operates the wallet, registers the relying business and certifies the product? Several countries divide those jobs between public bodies and private firms.

For an Irish buyer, the useful comparison is the route into a service: onboarding, accepted credentials, trust checks and fallback. A familiar bank login or domestic identity app does not, by itself, prove that a supplier can deliver an EUDI wallet integration.

Check Ireland's position, compare the countries below, or use the Irish organisation readiness guide. Our methodology explains the evidence boundaries.

Dates to watch

Spain's wallet-governance hearing runs to 13 October. Bulgaria's wallet-law consultation runs to 5 November. Both official notices were refreshed on 8 October. France's reviewed national identity decision states validity to 15 October; a subsequent renewal is not established here.

Procurement dates and parliamentary stages below are dated records. Check the linked official portal before submitting a bid or relying on a legal status. Forecasts remain forecasts, even after a planned date passes.

Section 10 of Act 272/2016, in the binding consolidation effective from 1 January 2025, requires a wallet provider to be a qualified trust-service provider or show a contract with one, meet the applicable requirements and submit notification and certificate material to NBÚ.
