MyGovID outage log
This is the running log of MyGovID, MyWelfare and Revenue myAccount outages. We log every confirmed outage with a start time, end time, services affected, and where possible the cause as later disclosed. The page is checked against multiple sources before each entry. If you're seeing a problem right now that isn't on this page, please tell us.
How to read this page
- Confirmed outages have been observed by us and corroborated by at least one external report (Downdetector spike, journalist or named user report, official statement from the Department).
- Unconfirmed entries are user-reported but not yet corroborated. We hold them for 24 hours; if no corroboration appears, we remove them.
- Cause is what we know at the time of logging. Where the Department later publishes more detailed information, we update the entry and flag the change.
How we log outages
Our triage uses three signals:
- Direct checks against the public-facing endpoints (mygovid.ie, mywelfare.ie, ros.ie).
- External outage trackers (Downdetector and equivalents).
- User-submitted reports to tips@myid.ie.
We try to publish a first entry within an hour of confirmation. We update the entry at resolution time and again if the cause is later disclosed.
Recent outages
As of the last check, all monitored services were responding. If you're experiencing a problem right now, our troubleshooting hub covers the most common user-side issues. If the problem persists for more than 30 minutes after working through those, please send us a report.

Why this page exists
Two reasons:
- For users. When a state service is down, the single most useful thing is to know whether it's only you or everyone. Knowing that lets you decide whether to wait or to try an alternative.
- For accountability. Patterns of outage — frequency, duration, time of day, recurrence around specific deadlines (Revenue Pay & File, welfare payment dates) — matter for regulator scrutiny and for the public conversation about uptime obligations for essential state services. The page is designed to make those patterns visible.
For journalists and researchers
We make the underlying log available on request for journalists and academic researchers. Email press@myid.ie with a brief description of the work and we'll share a structured dataset.
Reporting an outage
If you're experiencing what you believe is a MyGovID, MyWelfare or Revenue outage right now:
Confirm it isn't just you
Try a different network (Wi-Fi vs cellular). Try a different device. Try an incognito browser window. See our server errors guide.
Take a screenshot with the timestamp visible
For your records, and for any deadline-extension request you may need to make.
Send us the report
Email tips@myid.ie. Include the time you observed the issue, the specific URL, the error message, your browser/device, and whether other people on your network are affected.
If you missed a deadline because of an outage
Most Irish state services treat a documented outage as a valid reason for a same-day extension to a filing deadline. Keep your timestamped screenshot. Contact the service in question directly to request the extension; cite our log entry if you find one for the period in question.
